Buenos Aires, November 13 (NA) – The President's Office released an official statement on Wednesday affirming that Argentina and the United States have reached a "historic understanding." This phrase was chosen by the government to summarize the significance of the new Reciprocal Trade and Investment Agreement.
According to the text, the central objective is "to strengthen bilateral economic ties, promote trade, and stimulate new investment flows." The statement asserts that this agreement arises within the framework of a "deep and necessary reconfiguration of global value chains," driven by Donald J. Trump, and that Argentina is thus joining "a select group of nations with trade preferences."
For the Javier Milei administration, this international recognition reinforces its economic program and opens a favorable scenario for growth.
Among the highlights, the official text emphasizes that a "significant expansion of access for Argentine beef to the U.S. market" was agreed upon, accompanied by joint work to eliminate non-tariff barriers to bilateral agri-food trade.
In turn, the United States commits to removing tariffs on products it does not produce, which, according to the government, will expand export opportunities.
Finally, the statement underscores that Argentina will extend tariff preferences in strategic sectors, allowing the entry of capital goods and necessary inputs to improve local competitiveness.
Milei concludes the text by reaffirming his decision to "continue working alongside President Donald Trump in this new phase of economic and strategic cooperation," based on shared values such as "life, liberty, and private property."
